This is an attempt at a chronological bibliography of Ludwig Binswanger’s major writings in German, along with translations into French and English. I have not listed all the early essays which are untranslated and uncollected. It is based on Germaine Snessens, “Bibliographie de Ludwig Binswanger“, Revue philosophique de Louvain, 3rd series, Vol 64 No 84, 1966, pp. 594-602; the bibliography found in Analyse existentielle, psychiatrie clinique et psychanalyse: Discours, parcours, et Freud, translated by Roger Lewinter, Paris: Gallimard, 1970; supplemented by the contents of that volume; other collections in French and English; and the references in Caroline Gros, Ludwig Binswanger: Entre Phénoménologie et experience psychiatrique, Chatou: Les Éditions de la Transparence, 2009, pp. 8-9. Snessens’s bibliography is still valuable for early pieces, but is naturally very out-of-date for translations.
I am quite sure that it is incomplete, and I would welcome additions or corrections – though I don’t need to be told of additional German essays which are untranslated, unless they do not appear in Snessens.
The year/letter cross-references to the entry in Analyse existentielle, psychiatrie clinique et psychanalyse; and to each relevant entry I have added the numbers from Snessens’s bibliography as Sn#, to allow cross-referencing. (Note that Sn#20 and 21 are references to texts in Japanese, and Sn#109, 110, 113, 117, 118 and 120 to ones in Spanish, and Sn#122-153 to unpublished lectures, which are not included here.)
