Parler du « dernier Foucault » est devenu depuis quelques temps à la mode. Mais à quoi correspond ce « dernier » Foucault ? La publication des cours au Collège de France des années 80 arrive à son terme. Le cours de 1981-82, L’herméneutique du sujet, avait été publié en 2001 ; mais c’est à partir de 2008 que l’on a assisté à une véritable « accumulation » de textes auparavant inédits, écrits et prononcés par Foucault pendant les cinq dernières années de sa vie. It’s a shame that I still can’t find a notice for Du Gouvernement des Vivants anywhere.
I’m also curious exactly when the 1971 course will be coming out in English. And what the English title will be: Lessons on The Will to Knowledge or The Will to Knowledge?
I post up such information when I have it. I think the 1970-1971 course will be in 2013, and I would be surprised if they dropped the ‘Lectures/Lessons’ bit of the title, given it is to avoid confusion with HS vol 1 (and more accurately describes the contents, to be honest).
This was an old post so apologies if it sounded like I was repeating something from our correspondence. But yes, I was wondering what the English title would be. I agree that “Lessons” is a better descriptor, given the fragmentary nature of what was transcribed.
