Blogging and Medieval Studies

There is an interesting post here about blogging and Medieval Studies. I don’t think I’ve been doing this blog for long enough to be able to comment about whether this is true in general terms (I suspect some of the people involved in ‘speculative realism’ in its many forms will find parallels though), but it is interesting to see how new technologies have been used in a supposedly old fashioned area.

I should add just how amazed I was at the scholarship on display in Medieval Studies when I began working on that material. And I do think that a huge amount of our ‘modern’ sensibilities, certainly in terms of politics and especially the political control of space, come out of the Medieval period. It’s for this reason that my ‘history of the concept of territory’  book has four or five chapters on that time (depending on when you date its end).
