Very nice comment from Peter Gratton here.  Two minor corrections. I said it was available online, not free online – but as ever I’m happy to share if anyone can’t get it and drops me an email. And second, my project goes much further back than the early modern period. It actually starts with Greek myth and Greek tragedy, has a long chapter on Rome, four chapters on the Middle Ages, etc.
