Barely back from Vancouver, which was a great trip and involved no work, and I’m getting ready to go to Columbus, Ohio tomorrow where I’m giving a lecture at Ohio State, plus an informal discussion over lunch and lots of meetings with faculty and grad students. I’m then back for a couple of days before I go to Eugene, Oregon to give a lecture and go to the Radical Philosophy Association conference. Then it’s only a few days before I’m off to Victoria and Vancouver again. It’s not helped by the place I’m staying in Seattle being flooded due to a blocked drain, so I’ve had to relocate to a motel here for two nights.
In between I am trying to fill in some references for the book, looking at potential covers for the Sloterdijk Now collection, and editing Society and Space. The book references involved a lot of fiddly things in the Patrologiae Cursus Completus – a huge comprehensive work but not exactly the most user-friendly collection – and the Monumenta Germaniae Historica. I’ve reread Chapter Four and think that the work required there is minor for the bulk of the chapter, but quite a lot of work is needed for two sections. With the Sloterdijk book the cover we have gone with is terrific, and we’re just working on the fonts. I’ll post it as soon as it is in final form. Polity have been great to work with. And issue 6 of Society and Space – a theme issue on Global Borders guest edited by Chris Rumford – should be available soon.
