Global Politics – 2nd edition

I’ve just completed revising my chapter “Why is the world divided territorially?” for the second edition of Jenny Edkins and Maja Zehfuss (eds.) Global Politics: A New Introduction.

The book has an interesting approach – rather than teach international or global politics through countries or regions, or through theories, it asks questions which relate to problems. ‘ Why does politics turn to violence?’ and ‘What makes the world dangerous?’, for example. It seems to have done well – good sales and lots of positive reviews. The second edition will have some new chapters and revised versions of the others. It will be out sometime in 2012.

In the meantime, check out the companion website, especially the interviews with editors, some contributors and Nick Vaughan-Williams as a reviewer.

[Update – the teaching materials of Adrian Hull on this chapter are available here]
