Justin E.H. Smith on Fossils as an Epistemological Problem

Interesting abstract for a paper here. Smith is the author of the excellent Divine Machines: Leibniz and the Sciences of Life, which I’ve mentioned here before. While Smith’s interest in fossils, at least in this paper, looks at epistemology, and mine was in terms of the relation to the world, unsurprisingly both of us relate them to the question of time.
