I spent the last two evenings at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, seeing the Propeller company do The Winter’s Tale and Henry V. They are an all-male company, which leads to some interesting scenes, though I thought it worked better for Henry V. Henry V generally was a very powerful production, with good set design and effects. The use of music worked better, for me at least, in this play too. Both good nights out, though The Winter’s Tale remains a very strange piece of theatre… They are on tour, so you can catch them elsewhere.
