Eric Santner – The Royal Remains

I previously knew Santner’s work from his study of Sebald, On Creaturely Life. This more recent book covers similar ground to the Manow book I mentioned a few days ago – the persistence of the ‘two bodies’ idea explored by Kantorowicz – but in a more theoretical register. there are interesting discussions of Agamben, Foucault, Esposito, Heidegger, Schmitt, Shakespeare and others.

Just to thank you for bringing this book to our attention. I have bought it and I am really enjoying reading it, as it supports the feeling that I had about Esposito’s ideas and offers a way of understanding the sovereignty/biopolitics nexus.
