Congratulations to Teo Ballvé for the award of the Antipode Graduate Student Scholarship for his work on ‘Territories of Life and Death on a Colombian Frontier’. Teo is behind the excellent Territorial Masquerades blog and is doing really interesting work. I met him last year when I gave a talk at UC Berkeley, and he also organised a small seminar on some of my previous work. He had a paper in Society and Space earlier this year – “Everyday state formation: territory, decentralization, and the narco landgrab in Colombia” (requires subscription). Will look forward to the paper forthcoming in Antipode. Brief video explaining this work below:
