Israel’s border fences

The West Bank wall/fence/barrier gets most of the attention. The containment of Gaza continues on all sides – its land borders with Israel; south to Egypt; most of its territorial sea occupied and certainly its airspace, while the subsoil is a security issue due to the tunnels. At the same time, and without so much notice, Israel is building security fences on its borders with Egypt and Syria. IBRU at Durham has a roundup of recent reports. Israel’s closed border with Lebanon is also heavily fortified – I discuss the border at Rosh Hanikra in my ‘Secure the Volume’ piece, coming out soon with Political Geography.
