Judith Butler continues to be criticised for her support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions program, most recently for the debate due to be hosted at Brooklyn College on 7th February. Various people including Alan Dershowitz have said such an event should take place; others have defended it on the grounds of freedom of speech. Glenn Greenwald has a good analysis at The Guardian; Crooked Timber’s discussion is worth reading, as is their followup post about the College’s appointment of Hannah Arendt in 1942. The New York Times has a piece on this, and The Nation has the statement from the College president.
