On the Stanford website, it lists several volumes under the title UNPUBLISHED FRAGMENTS. I’m going to assume that those are the writings in what is commonly referred to as THE WILL TO POWER?
Far far more extensive. The Will to Power was an abbreviated, heavily edited, compilation from late notebooks. There are all sorts of political and philosophical problems with that. The Stanford edition, based on the German KSA, will in time entirely replace it. In the meantime the Cambridge Writings from the Late Notebooks is a much better place to look.
I agree. Although I have to admit that I have a soft spot for THE WILL TO POWER (the Kaufmann edited version – not the philosophical war crime perpetuated by his sister) as it was one of the first books to expose me to Nietzsche’s ideas and gave me a good sampling of his key concepts from different periods. But I concur that we need to abandon it for a more comprehensive understanding of Nietzsche’s unpublished writings.
