Warwick/RIPE Debate 2013
From 2008 onwards, Warwick’s Politics and International Studies department (PAIS), in conjunction with the Review of International Political Economy (RIPE) has hosted an annual Warwick/RIPE debate in International Political Economy (IPE). The debates are the department’s flagship IPE event and bring together internationally renowned scholars to discuss issues at the cutting edge of IPE in front of, and with, large audiences. This year’s Warwick/RIPE debate celebrated the upcoming twentieth anniversary of RIPE. The debate, on ‘The Eurocentric Foundations of IPE’, was moderated by Prof Matthew Watson and featured one of RIPE’s current editors Dr Cornelia Woll (Sciences Po, Paris), who discussed the journal’s vision as it celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The debate also featured Professor John Hobson (University of Sheffield), whose talk speaks to his two articles on the Eurocentric foundations of IPE that will feature in the forthcoming anniversary edition of RIPE.
