Yesterday was spent at Sage’s offices in London, at my first meeting of the Theory, Culture & Society editorial board. They say that you should not see two things made – laws and sausages – but seeing how this journal was put together was illuminating. It’s an extremely labour-intensive process – editors, board members and external referees reading every paper that is being considered for the journal, and the meeting discussed papers at some length. Lots of very interesting discussion, and while I knew some of the people there from before, like Couze Venn, Roy Boyne and Ryan Bishop, it was great to meet two people whose work I’ve known for many years, including Scott Lash and Mike Featherstone.
