Slavoj Žižek on English riots

In the LRB (via the Verso blog). Well worth a read, and it ranges quite widely to Egypt and the financial crisis, among other things. It does exhibit the general tendency that people looking into the events tend to find what they expect to find… In Žižek’s case, it is the Hegelian notion of the ‘rabble’ which he has said is a key theme of the book he is writing.
