My MA thesis about Bruno Latour’s influence in historiographical methodology was shot down by my promotor because I, and I paraphrase, “spent to much time on ‘nature,’ something that doesn’t play any role in Latour’s work. Latour is deep down a sociologists who doesn’t care about nature.” It’s true that my thesis said pretty much the complete opposite since Latour spends so much time on explaining the new meaning of “social” and what it is to be a sociologist AND the object/nature vs subject/culture divide is central in his thinking. So I’m quite pleased reading the following in your article: “Recasting the concept of Nature is key to Latour’s thought.”
