Yesterday, I posted concerning Facebook rumors that THIS BOOK was a second edition of Meillassoux’s Après la finitude, with quite a few new pages added.

I wrote to Meillassoux for clarification, and he responded that it’s not actually a second edition. What happened (as reported previously both on this blog and in my book on Meillassoux for Edinburgh University Press) is that Meillassoux had provided some additional clarifying pages for Brassier’s English version of the book. (You can see that material, set off by asterisks, between pages 18 and 26 of the English.)

Après la finitude has since been translated into a number of languages, and all of those translations have apparently incorporated the new pages that were sent from Meillassoux to Brassier during translation.

As a result, the French edition had come to be the least complete edition in any language, and Seuil is simply trying to rectify…
