The Natural Science volume in The Cambridge Edition of the Works of Immanuel Kant is now listed, with
a May an August 2012 publication date. It includes a translation of the Rink edition of Kant’s Physical Geography lectures. Though there are some parts already available in English, this will be the first full translation. The Rink edition has some serious problems, but it will be worthwhile simply to have something available.
The translator is Olaf Reinhardt, who wrote a piece on translating the text for the Reading Kant’s Geography book I co-edited. Also in that text, Werner Stark discusses the work he had to do to put together a critical edition of the lectures for the Akademie Ausgabe of Kant’s writings. I hope some of the cautions expressed in that volume are heeded as English language readers are finally able to look at Kant on this topic.
