Foucault, Ascesis, Medieval Studies

Eileen Joy has an interesting post here about the late Foucault and Medieval Studies. The focus is particularly on the fragments of Foucault’s work on the Christian saints. In that vein, Philippe Chevalier’s new book Michel Foucault et le christianisme looks a valuable resource. I’ve tried to show elsewhere how confession is the key to the whole sexuality series. I have it on good authority that the 1979-80 course Du gouvernement des vivants will be out in late 2012.
