The news reports are not helpful in getting a sense of what is actually going on in Kano. The reports I linked to are being written largely by people outside of the country and relying on the AP reports. Nigerian media isn’t much help.

The bombs seemed to have targeted police stations in Kano, plus some government buildings. There were a number of different attacks and several explosions. The BBC News is now reporting ‘scores’ of deaths and 150 bodies being seen. The news reports seem to be focusing on the bombs but have little on the shootings that were also happening around 5-7pm yesterday, especially in the Bompai district.
