I recommend the recent Cambridge edition of Richard II. It contains great material on staging, Shakespeare’s use of historical sources, and great in-line commentary on textual variants.

Thanks. I’ve been using the Arden third series as my standard, but consulting other editions (Cambridge, Oxford, Penguin, Arden second series) for the plays I am giving the most attention.
